SHARKA BOSAKOVA

One of my earliest memories is being in the pram, looking up at the leaves above me, astounded by their structure, movement and beauty.

At 3 years old I was found cutting an umbrella into the shape of a dress.

At 4 I requested my parents bake an antler in the oven for me.

My first dress was an umbrella.

Imagination and inner creativity are natural ways for me to interact with the world around me.

After graduating with Masters degree in Theater Set & Costume Design at the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic, I took a leap of faith and made the move to Australia, the land of never-ending horizon, red soil and an ancient rhythm of nature. Completing Master of Creative Industries at QUT and Jewellery and small objects course at QCA equipped my practice with an understanding of local creative and cultural domains.

Merging European classic influences with the ancient and rustic landscapes of Australia formed the basis of my practice. Creating wearable objects and installations to communicate, connect with other people, places and art forms, opening a dialogue. I believe objects – touch – body – experience and visual storytelling can transcend languages.
